Candied Ginger Cookies

Bake these only on a dry day!

1 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup shortening
1 egg
4 tablespoons molasses
2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
3/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground ginger
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground cloves
1 cup candied ginger

Form into very small balls. Bake at 375 degrees F for 7 minutes on a greased or ungreased cookie sheet.
