Cherry Coke Ice Cream

2 cups cherry coke
1 dash salt
2 (12 ounce) cans evaporated milk
2 cups granulated sugar
1 pint whipping cream
1 jar maraschino cherries, drained and chopped
Milk, as needed, to fill freezer

Mix all of the ingredients together, except for the milk, and pour into a 4- or 5-quart ice cream freezer. Add milk to reach the fill line. Freeze according to freezer manufacturer's instructions.
